摘要：近年以来，高中英语阅读的教学中教师发现了一种现象，学生在进行英语阅读理解训练时，他们认识全部词汇也能够理解所有的语法结构，但是仍然不理解文章的真正含义。这种现象产生的主要原因是学生不能够了解文化背景知识。实际上，英语阅读是一个跨文化的交际，对目的语的文化背景知识的了解是学生成功地进行英语阅读理解的前提。这几年，我们已经意识到文化背景知识与外语教学之间关系的重要性了。从高中生所掌握文化背景知识的角度来看，在英语阅读教学中加强文化知识传授的重要性，对于阅读教学中存在的问题提供具体的解决方案，让学生得益于跨文化的阅读教学。总之，在高中英语阅读教学中，传授语言知识和阅读技巧的同时，传授文化背景知识已成为一种必然的趋势.

Abstract:Recently, in the process of foreign language teaching in the high school,especially in the teaching of reading,the teachers found that although there are some phenomenons.The students can understand the grammar structure,and know these new words, but they don't understand the deep meaning of the reading materials.The reason that understanding error or comprehension barrier is mainly caused by the lack of cultural background knowledge.English reading is the communication of a cross-cultural.Understanding of the target language cultural background knowledge is the precondition of students successfully for English reading. In recent years, we have realized that the importance of the relationship. Between cultural background knowledge and foreign language teaching. From the perspective of high school students master the cultural background knowledge, the importance of strengthening the cultural knowledge in English reading teaching. Introduction

    The English Curriculum Standard defined its goals as the improvement of comprehensive language proficiency, include language knowledge, culture awareness,and culture awareness is very important consist of English reading, so we should arouse students’ interest and help them improve students’ reading ability.

There is not doubt that it is essential to introduce foreign culture to the students, the students can familiar with foreign culture will help them to know the materials. Nowadays the teachers have realized that the readers should depend on background knowledge and a lots of words, It is lack of background knowledge that is the main element influence of comprehension. Recently ,with the development of the theories  of teaching reading as well as teachers’ own teaching experience,they have realized that linguistic deficiency is the factors that might have lead to students’ poor reading comprehension.So I think that , it is very importance for us.  In a word, we should be finding out the relationship between culture and the teaching of English reading in order to justify an effective way for the students to learn English well and to improve the students’ ability of studying English.

What is culture? the meaning of culture is very rich.

 Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people,defined by everything from language,religion,cuisine,social habits,music and arts.This means that language is not only part of how we define culture.It also reflects culture.Thus, the culture associated with a language can not learned in a few lessons about celebrations,folk songs,or costumes of the area the language is spoken. Culture is viewed as a dynamic construction between and among people,consists of the values,beliefs that create in their unique social circumstances.
