首先大学官网的信息是否翻个遍，尽量查一下学校的地理位置等，如何查询呢？在bing（http://cn.bing.com/）搜索引擎地图上找到学校的，这样可以比较容易定位学校在美国的地理位置，用这个搜索的主要好处是加载快，如下图所示：
互动地图如http://www.youvisit.com/tour也是不错的选择。这个网站给出了学校的一些互动的图片，可以清晰得看清楚学校的建筑物等。
再看看学校附近的交通情况：在bing中搜索学校英文名字加上transportation，就可以找到学校附近的交通情况了。打开页面以后我们会看到：
学校的交通就一目了然了。
个别同学会说，我英语看不懂啊，老师有木有比较简单的方式呢？笔者检索了一下，发现中国学生学者联合会出了册子，不妨让大家也学一下如何查阅，还是以伊利诺伊大学香槟分校为例，笔者用了如下关键词搜索找到了网页的第三个：
这样打开以后可以看到这个册子了，里面有关于学校的衣食住行等各方面的信息，很实用。
有些同学说，我查询了这个学校压根没有CSSA ，这样的情况下如何办呢？笔者又想到了聊天软件：QQ，微信，facebook或者人人网，笔者试了QQ软件,哇，还是不少的检索结果：
这样通过群以后在里面积极发言，让他们多给你一些信息，是不是很棒呢？
了解了学校的基本信息以后，学校的评价如何查询，我们可以参考https://colleges.niche.com//这个网站平台，检索方式bing中搜索’学校英文名字’加上’niche’ 就可以了。如图：
另外一个网站叫yelp，给出了很多零散的评价，也不错啦：
看了评价再说一个跟学术相关的评价网站http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/这个是在美国读书学生的必备网站，可以了解大学的老师授课模式，打分等。

关于校报，可是美国大学信息的很重要的来源。校报更是学生锻炼的重要平台，甚至对国家选举等重大事件都有一定影响力。有的学校还不止一种校报。对编辑文笔思想等感兴趣的学生，到了美国大学可不要错失这样的锻炼机会。
